 December 9, 2017:  Siesta Key Beach is hosting The 41st Annual Sandy Claws Beach Run starting at 8 a.m. The “Run” will gather directly on the beach. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and a 1 mile fun or warm up run begins at 8 a.m. and a 5K run starts at 8:20 a.m. Registration fees vary by event and sign up date.

December 9, 2017: Get some boutique shopping done and then take a stroll through The 13th Annual Porsche’s in the Park car show in Circle Park on St. Armand’s Circle. Spectacular Porsche autos from owners all over Florida will be on display from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

December 9, 2017: The Suncoast Humane Society is sponsoring a Pet Walk to celebrate our pets and fund raise to benefit and support homeless pets throughout the 3 counties of Sarasota, Charlotte and Lee Counties  Bring along your pooch to take part in the Pet Costume Contest. There will be prize drawings throughout the event and so much more-all for a very worth cause.  All friendly pets are welcome, whether as spectator or participant.

December 9, 2017: It’s the Anna Maria Island Privateers Christmas Parade The parade will run the entire length of the island, starting at the north end  (Bay Front Park) ending at Coquina Beach, where Santa will arrive and board the Privateers’ Flagship “Skullywag” when all the kids will be invited to sit on Santa’s Lap . Hotdogs, chips and soda will also be provided for all the kids. 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. All are welcome to join the Privateers for the Christmas Parade as a participant or simply as a spectator.

December 9, 2017: The Annual Sarasota Christmas Boat Parade of Lights  The annual awaited Holiday parade was started in 1986 and usually takes place the second Saturday evening of December, starting around 6 p.m. The boat parade starts from City Island and will be the perfect event to put you in the Holiday spirit.

December 9 – 10, 2017:  Join Diversity: The Voices of Sarasota as they present the holiday concert, “Music for the Season.”

This must be the kick-off weekend for “Season” as the licensed out of town traffic has certainly picked up plus there is so much to do in and around the Sarasota area!

      November 10 – 13, 2017: Come out and enjoy the 8th Annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition. Master Sand Sculptors from across the U.S. will compete in paired teams for thousands in prize money.  Live music and food and retail vendors in a “vendor village” setting are also a part of the festival. Friday: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Various on line discount available with various ticket packages including reserved private parking. November 10 – 13, 2017: The 10th Annual Sarasota Chalk Festival takes place for its 4th year in Venice, Florida. The theme of the 2017 festival is: “EVANESCENT.” Hundreds of chalk artists will create artwork using the pavement of the Venice Airport Festival Grounds (610 Airport Avenue East, Venice, FL.)  Last year over 500 national and international artists participated in the Sarasota Chalk Festival. The fest features street painting; 3D Pavement Art, Traditional Pavement Art as well as other events and attractions connected to the fest! Admission is from $5 – $25. November 10 – 12, 2017: The Sarasota Architectural Foundation presents Sarasota MOD Weekend. The fourth annual mid-century modern architecture festival celebrates the legacy of acclaimed Sarasota School architect Edward J. “Tim” Seibert, FAIA. November 11-12, 2017:  29th Annual St. Armand’s Art Festival:  The St. Armand’s Circle Art Festival hosts 200 artists in town annually. November 3, 2017: To celebrate Fall the Sarasota Film Festival invites you to another in their series of Free Moonlight Movies, a screening of “Labyrinth”  on Siesta Key Beach. Take advantage of Florida’s beautiful weather by watching a movie on the beach!  November 4, 2017:  It’s the annual “Sandblast” day-long Sand-sculpting competition taking place along the shores of Manatee Public Beach in support of Keep Manatee Beautiful, a group dedicated to litter prevention, beautification and environmental improvement throughout the county. In addition to showcasing the local talent, Sandblast also offers free clinics taught by master sculptors Learn the “Tips, Tricks and Techniques” of sand sculpture at free clinics taught by master sculptors Team Sandtastic from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, while the competition is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. November 4, 2017: It’s the “Fish For United Way” tournament benefiting the region’s United Ways and hosted by Florida Power and Light Company. Anglers can cast their lines in the 4,000-acre cooling reservoir, also known as Lake Parrish, that serves the FPL Plant. Home to bass, crappies and catfish, the reservoir is a delight for anglers, who pay $250 per boat (includes 3 anglers, $50 each additional angler), to participate in one of the open tournament days. The reservoir is normally closed to the public, but opens three times a year for the fishing tournament which benefits the surrounding communities. Top prize: $1,000. Tournament is limited to 50 boats. November 4, 2017: It’s time for a brew! The Beer, Boats and Bacon Fest will feature over 60+ craft beers to sample with the General Admission & VIP Ticket.  Throughout the event there will be various bacon bites and samples from local restaurants and caterers plus more food available for purchase from over 15 vendors. The festival will have live music, a family friendly section, craft beers sampling and more. November 4 – 5, 2017: It’s the 30th Annual Venice Art Fest, originally begun in 1987. Another of the numerous open air festivals on my November Sarasota Events Calendar, this outdoor event is held in Historic Downtown Venice, on west Venice Avenue. With free admission for all, the Fest takes place from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day and features the works of over 150 artists. The weather in Sarasota and along the gulf coast is usually perfect for the Venice Art Fest.

November 5, 2017: It’s the 43rd annual Sarasota Manatee Bicycle Club’s premier southwest Florida event: Gulf Coast Cycle-fest! Join with other cyclists from around the country as they enjoy new routes through Manatee County. Not a race, it’s designed to be a whole family event with routes of 100, 62, 35, or 20 mile distances. Number of riders is limited. Get in early. Event time: 6:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. Fees: Register by October 1, $45.00. Register after October 1, $50.00.
